What is a CNS?

What is a Certified Nutrition Specialist?

I am a Certified Nutrition Specialist (MS, CNS) and Licensed Nutritionist (LDN). I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition and Integrative Health, passed a national board exam, and completed 1,000 hours of supervised clinical training prior to launching my private practice.

My title of Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS), is an advanced professional nutrition credential that differs from a standard Registered Dietician (RD). CNSs must have a minimum of a masters or doctorate degree in clinical nutrition, with a focus on personalized nutrition practices.

CNS’s practice personalized nutrition. Personalized nutrition (PN) considers the unique makeup of individuals and groups of people with similar traits, creating a person-centered approach to nutrition science, education and clinical care.
